The Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190) is a permanent residency visa for individuals with skills and qualifications needed by the Australian economy. This visa is suitable for applicants who do not meet the points requirement for the Skilled Independent Visa but can obtain nomination from an Australian State or Territory.
To apply, applicants must score a minimum of 65 points and receive nomination from a participating State or Territory government.
Applicants must be under 45 years of age and have an occupation listed on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL).
Basic Requirements
Applicants (or their partner) must meet the following criteria:
- Be under 45 years of age
- Have competent English language skills
- Possess relevant qualifications and work experience
- Meet health and character requirements
- Have an occupation on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL)
Applicants must also pass a points-based assessment. Points can be claimed based on:
- Age
- English language proficiency
- Work experience
- Educational qualifications
- Spouse skills and additional factors
The current minimum required score is 65 points.
Applicants must obtain nomination from a State or Territory government. Each region may have its own eligibility criteria, including:
- Occupation listed in that region’s skill shortage list
- Relevant experience or specialized skills required by that region
Applicants must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) through the online system called SkillSelect. Based on this, invitations may be issued by Australian authorities or state governments.
Note: Submitting an EOI does not guarantee an invitation. If invited, applicants must submit their visa application within the specified timeframe.
