The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) is a fast-track immigration pathway that allows employers in Canada’s Atlantic provinces to hire foreign workers for jobs they cannot fill locally.

This program covers four provinces:

  • Nova Scotia
  • New Brunswick
  • Newfoundland and Labrador
  • Prince Edward Island
Overview

The AIP is designed to support economic growth and population development in Atlantic Canada by attracting skilled workers and international graduates.

It is an employer-driven program, meaning applicants must have a valid job offer from a designated employer in one of the Atlantic provinces.

No LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) is required under this program, making it faster and easier for employers to hire foreign workers.

How the Program Works
  1. Job Offer: Receive a valid job offer from a designated employer
  2. Employer Endorsement: Employer gets approval from the province
  3. Settlement Plan: Receive a settlement plan for you and your family
  4. Apply for PR: Submit permanent residence application

Applicants may also receive a temporary work permit to enter Canada quickly while their PR application is being processed.

Candidate Requirements

The AIP includes three main programs:

  • Atlantic High-Skilled Program (AHSP)
  • Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program (AISP)
  • Atlantic International Graduate Program (AIGP)

General requirements include:

  • Valid full-time job offer from a designated employer
  • Relevant work experience (for skilled worker streams)
  • Educational qualifications (ECA may be required)
